"God, I'm terrible at this stuff." Remus huffed with a small laugh, watching Sirius toss away the wrapper. He put his hand into his pocket and considered the prompt. "Yeah, we need blackout ones cause the light is fucking me up. I'm unemployed, I have the God given right to lie in and the sun is ruining it for me."
He puffed out his cheeks and huffed, basing his rant on some very real feedback for his own bedroom. "Besides, when you're strutting around in the buff, all our neighbours look over for a little peak."
"Yeah. Seems a shame to deprive them, but given your lack of employment, at the very least they could fork over some money if they want to see the goods. It's a right faggotry corner of the world anyway, bet we could make some profit." Worth considering, especially as he had no idea how much blackout curtains would cost. "I reckon maybe we could get Pete to sneak us some of them rubbish bags from the restaurant. Those might work in a pinch."
And cost a lot less. "Not sure if it's good for a sexy mood, but we'll just have to sacrifice some of our erotic vibes."
"It'd save having to get a rod to hang them up and all, we could just duct tape them to the window like loons and embrace our insanity." Seemed like a lot less effort, though he wasn't against pimping out a hot guy for curtain money but it seemed rather needless. "Maybe if we add a lot of candles, we could create a goth vibe instead of a weird vibe. Might work for us. We're both rather pale."
They had some little goth energy sparks, might be time to draw from it.
"You reckon? Ah, like last Halloween. Rocky Horror Picture Show. Do you just want to see me as Frank'N'Furter again? Because I'll be a sweet transvestite from transsexual Transylvania for you any time, darling." Sirius laughed and reached for Remus's hand again, only to pull him closer and, yes, kiss his cheek again. And then he stopped, because they'd reached the door to his building.
He lifted his arms and put them on Remus's shoulder, looking into his eyes, feet a little bit apart. Put them closer in height. "Get my keys out, will you?" He leaned in so he could whisper near Remus's ear. "Back pocket."
Dear God, he was playing gay chicken with this guy and their fake relationship was growing so fast that he felt like having the talk just to grasp where they were. He looked at Sirius and blushed before reaching behind him to get his keys. Jesus, this man had a solid ass. Like rock solid. And he had only grazed it with his hand. "Someone does squats."
Remus smiled and then held out the key for him. "You fucking tease, mate. You really fucking are."
"Can't prove that yet. You're only a tease when you don't put out." Sirius grinned, grabbed the key and then turned away so he could unlock the door. He held it open for Remus to go through first, then gestured to the stairs. "We're three flights up, I'm afraid. That's where the nice arse really comes from, if you have to know."
Well, some days it could be quite the hike, especially when he was drunk. Which was a rather frequent occurrence.
"I'll try to keep my eyes on the prize. After you."
Remus gestured for Sirius to lead the way and headed up behind him. He started off okay but he was relatively inactive these days and had only just scraped by in his recovery of pneumonia two months ago so he was still a little weaker than he was proud of. It was embarrassing that by the time they reached the third floor, he was out of breath and trying to hide it. Eyes on the prize - Sirius had a hot ass, he just had to keep on going. Once they reached the door, he tried to catch his breath as subtly as he could.
Sirius frowned a little, never one to hide his reactions or emotions. He reached for Remus's arm and used that grip to pull him close, wrapping both arms around him. He held him close against him like that until he could hear and feel him breathe more regularly. All the while he played with Remus's hair, slightly amazed at its texture. "You've got proper soft hair, mate. Like spun silk or something."
He really enjoyed the feel of it. "Let's go in, yeah? Sit down a bit."
He finally moved away from Remus enough to unlock the door to his flat, letting Remus go through the door first again. It was a pretty small place, bedroom and living room, small kitchenette. Nothing special, but his first proper space. He had a Pride flag on the wall, his sofa had seen better days and there were posters of theatre and movies up, as well as the inevitable motorcycle or two. The door to the bedroom was closed right now, and Sirius gestured to the sofa. "Sit down, I'm gonna get us something to drink. What do you fancy, beer? ...not sure what else I have. I can check."
To be held like that was so strange to him, he hadn't meant to draw attention and he didn't want pity but it didn't even feel like that. It felt like Sirius was concerned, like he cared and wanted him to feel better. It was the oddest thing. Remus nodded slowly, a little lost for forwards, walking into the apartment and looked around with interest.
He sat on the couch and then looked at Sirius, nodding. "Beer works, thanks."
What did he even say to someone who cared this much, who seemed to be some weird fantasy he imagined and not even a person. He let his head lie back against the couch and looked at the pride flag. "I'm sorry." He didn't even know why he said that, he just felt like he owed it to Sirius. Sirius was loving and fun and playful, he was full of life. And Remus wasn't. It seemed unfair to steal his time.
"What are you sorry for? You spill something?" Wait, he didn't even have anything yet. Sirius walked over with two beer bottles, opening them against the table and then handing one to Remus. He looked at him as he sipped from his own beer, frowning a little. "Look, I get it. A lot of life is about being made to feel as if you've got to apologise for existing. I know I got that plenty from my family. Can't even imagine how much worse it must be for you."
With the many boxes Remus ticked. Sirius shook his head a little. "But this is you. This is me. All we are doing is hanging out. Living life. I want you to live life unapologetically, yeah? With me."
"You're right. It just -- I think I didn't sleep on the train. I think I died and this is like the hallucination I see during my death cause word for word, it's a lot like fantasies I've had before. A nice guy, really handsome, who doesn't care about any of the many things that get me rejected on a daily basis. Just doesn't feel real." He sipped his drink and wondered, curiously, what chance they stood if this was all real. Live fast, die young and leave others behind didn't seem so fun.
"You're the best thing to happen to me in ... about six months. Maybe more. You beat out the chocolate cake I got for my birthday." Only just.
"If that's what it feels like, then you really ought to make the most of it, don't you think?" Sirius raised an eyebrow and dropped his voice playfully. "I'm your fantasy, baby. Come and live it."
He took another sip of his beer before putting it aside, so he could put a hand at the back of Remus's neck. "We'll take it slow. Some snogging and cuddling and tomorrow I'll pinch you. We'll make sure you are awake and alive. And then I'll show you what life can be like."
