"Mostly clubbers, teenagers and druggies. Sometimes normal people, some abnormal. You'd be surprised who's up at this time." He had some days when people came in, clearly off their head and just looking to get cheap booze and then other days, there was a family of four coming back from a holiday and just needing some gas.
Looking at Sirius, he raised an eyebrow and wondered how to humour him. Maybe he could ask why a stripper thought falling in a crowd was a good idea. "Not the best at small talk but lemme see." He pondered an easy topic that wasn't weather - cause they'd covered that one. "How was the new song?"
"It rocks pretty hard. They loved it." Sirius smiled, very happy to talk about that. "Do you wanna see? I know I'm shameless." And he certainly had no shame about being shameless either. Sirius reached into his jacket and got his phone out, circling through his music so he could find the video in question.
"My mate has a good camera on his phone, so I got a video."
"Uhhh." Was he about to see a stripper? Oh God. He looked intently at the screen and felt himself get a bit nervous, wondering what he was about to be shown. And then he looked closer as he flicked through the photos and videos... of what was clearly a band on stage. Oh. OHHH. Okay, wait, was he just a musician? Well. That probably made way more sense.
"You're in a band." Remus stated it wisely before realising he didn't want the guy to think he thought anything else so he tried to cover his ass. "I thought it was like... solo work."
"Well..." Sirius looked up and, yes, there was a wink again. "I do my best work alone."
That said he focused back on the phone, finally finding the video he had been meaning to show. He turned his phone and started playing it, turning up the volume a little. "I'm the git in the front singing. With the guitar."
He was just saying, in case it wasn't blatantly obvious.
Remus, already blushing and dying from the wink, was totally thrown by seeing this guy sing beautifully and playing the guitar. Dear God, what was this? Did he fall into a weird fanfiction where a hot guy wanted to come and talk to him? He was sure he read a book like this once at the airport and didn't believe this kind of thing could happen to the quirky main girl.
Now he was said quirky main girl. Wait. Main boy. "You're really talented." Stupidly so. "You'll make it big in no time."
"I dunno. I just do it for fun, y'know? Well. Fun and a bit of cash." Given his parents had cut him off, that was kind of a necessity, but Sirius didn't dream of being rich. He had been rich all his life, so in a way he was dreaming of being poor instead. At the very least because he knew how much it irked his parents. "I do that and working on motorcycles. I tried steady work like you have, but I really, really suck at that."
He rolled his eyes at his own ineptitude, then smiled. "Thanks though. Now are you gonna come to a gig some time? I bet you just didn't wanna have to listen to some talentless arse."
"No, that wasn't it." He thought he was a stripper, that was it. He always believed he was a very talented stripper. He just didn't fancy watching one. With an amused smile, he leaned on the counter a little. "I really do work like most of the week and all late shifts so unless you've got something on during a Monday or Friday, I'm probably gonna miss you."
He also had Wednesday free too but that was when he went to see his mom and dad. He just wasn't going to admit to that aloud. "And I'm as broke as promised so if they're after bar sales, I'd invite someone else."
"Nah, don't worry about that. I'm just inviting you as eye-candy, Remus." Sirius was flirting, of course he was, but he wasn't really thinking about it, it just came naturally. Honestly, a lot of it was probably a result of spending entirely too much of his life with James. Him and James had a strange way of interacting, sometimes they just transferred it onto others without wondering how it'd translate.
"But I always have something on Friday, so now you have to come. Promise?"
"Once again, mate, you're shopping in the wrong place for that. I can bring you actual candy though. Three for two on the jelly beans this week." He had no idea what to do with a guy flirting at him like that, especially since he knew he wasn't a looker or anything so it did just seem like maybe he had to get a certain amount of people in the bar or something. Either way, Remus was suspect but flattered.
It was nice to be flirted with. Like a fantasy come true. "I'll see if I'm not busy and I'll come Friday. Where is it?" He didn't want to say 100% he'd go but he probably would. Cause. Well. A hot guy asked him and he's weak.
Sirius grabbed an old receipt from his pocket and started to jot down an address, underlining the venue name. He held the paper out to Remus, then caught his eyes. "I really want you there. I'm Sirius."
Something that worked on so many levels. No wonder his parents regretted giving him that name. He used it for puns and other evil entirely too often. Sometimes without the other person even realising, such as now.
"You can bring mates along too, if you want." Because, yeah, of course he wanted to fill the venue.
"Mates?" Well. He could bring one person... so hey, he was not going to be friendly. "I'll ask if anyone fancies going round and see what happens. Cheers for that." He pocketed the name, not sure if he heard him right or not. Was his name Sirius or did he just say serious lightly odd? He wasn't sure and he felt like the guy liked that.
He seemed to like having the upper hand. Well, not an actual upper hand but like a sexy upper hand cause he so knew that Remus would do whatever the handsome bastard wanted.
Cause he was very handsome. Damn him. "What time do you start?"
"This Friday? Probably around ten. Though, let's face it, might be closer to eleven." Hey, he could be honest. Sirius shrugged. "My best mate has a baby so a lot depends on if his wife is going to stay in or if they get a sitter, because they believe he's too young to party."
Which seemed like a cop-out, Harry was always ready to party whenever Sirius asked, they screamed about it together and everything.
"I'll come as close to eleven as I can then." Remus smiled and then jerked his head towards his bike. "Wanna pay up? It's a lot cooler out there now, won't be half as bad." Here's hoping. He was not fancing another warm day. Standing back upright, he input the pump number and started to total everything up.
"Nah, think I'm all set. I still got gum from last time." And what more could a man want? Sirius got his wallet out, opening it. He had a picture of James, Lily and Harry in there prominently and way less cash than he'd have liked. Maybe it was for the better that he didn't know about the stripper mistake, or he might have gotten ideas. "You know, I love my bike, but it's trying to starve me."
He set out the cash and smiled at Remus. "See you soon, yeah?"

Girls would love a bloke like that.
